Manual of The Roll (Pty) Ltd — prepared in terms of section 51 of the Promotion of Access to Information Act, 2000 (PAIA).
1. Introduction
The Roll (Pty) Ltd ("The Roll") operates The Roll, a private software platform at theroll.co.za for verified South African legal practitioners. This manual is published in terms of section 51 of PAIA to assist any person who wishes to request access to a record held by the Company, and to set out the records the Company holds and how access may be requested. Read it together with our Privacy Policy and Terms of Use.

4. Guide of the Information Regulator

5. Records held
5.1 Records that may be requested: company/statutory records; member personal-information records (subject to protecting third-party personal information); appearance and platform records; financial records (payments processed by PayFast; no card numbers stored); operational records; website and policy records.
5.2 Records freely available on the website without a PAIA request: Terms of Use, Privacy Policy, this PAIA Manual, and general service and pricing information.
6. Records held under other legislation
Records are also kept under, among others, the Companies Act 71 of 2008; POPIA 4 of 2013; the Income Tax Act 58 of 1962 and Tax Administration Act 28 of 2011; the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008; and the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002.
7. How to request access
Complete the prescribed Form 2 (Request for Access to Record) under the PAIA Regulations; submit it to the Information Officer at support@theroll.co.za with enough detail to identify the record and requester; pay the prescribed request and access fees (the Information Officer will advise; fees may be waived as provided in PAIA). We will respond within 30 days (extendable as PAIA permits). Access may be refused on the grounds in Chapter 4 of Part 3 of PAIA, including protecting the privacy of a third party and protecting commercial or privileged information. A dissatisfied requester may complain to the Information Regulator or apply to court.
8. Availability
This manual is available on theroll.co.za, at our principal place of business for inspection during office hours, and on request to the Information Officer and the Information Regulator.

This manual is reviewed and updated as necessary; the latest version is the one published on the website.
